OmegaT+ is a free Machine-Aided Human Translation(MAHT) tool that provides a
number of key functions for use by translators, software localization engineers,
and other language professionals. The main role of OmegaT+ is as a translation
processor that assists users in the translation of documents from one language
into another. The most important feature it possesses is a translation memory
function that provides previously translated text for reuse in new translations.
All previously translated text is stored in Translation Memory eXchange (TMX)
document format for future use.

In addition, the translation processing and reuse capabilities are complimented
by concordance search and glossary features. Concordance search enables users
to search for terms and phrases within translation memories and documents, while
the glossary function gives access to multilingual terms from user provided
glossaries.

Rounding out the main functionality is the project feature; all translation
is performed in a project oriented manner, with the ability to handle multiple
documents of different types concurrently within a translation project.
Currently handled document types for use in translation projects include:
OpenDocument (ODF), OpenOffice.org (OOo), OpenXML (MS Office XML), HTML/XHTML,
DocBook, HtmlHelp (HHC/HHK), Portable Object (PO), Java properties (resource
bundles), INI, and plaintext. In addition, regular MS Office files (e.g. Word)
can be handled by converting them to ODF/OOo using OpenOffice.org or other
suitable application. OmegaT+ is a cross-platform application, it can run on
all popular operating systems, including Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows. The
user interface and documentation can be localized to a user’s liking by using
the program itself.
